I’m Jakyra Simpson—better known as The Sneaker Chemist—a chemistry educator, science communicator, STEAM consultant, entrepreneur, and the founder of STEAM Sneakerheadz™ and Products By Ky LLC. With more than 10 years of experience connecting culture and chemistry, I’ve built my career around one mission: making science feel authentic, accessible, and inspiring for the next generation.

I earned my Master of Science in Chemistry from Indiana University Bloomington, where my work focused on science communication and culturally relevant STEAM engagement, and I also hold a Certificate in Women’s Entrepreneurship from Cornell University. My work lives at the intersection of chemistry, creativity, education, and sneaker culture—using fashion, art, music, and storytelling as powerful tools to transform how students experience STEM.

Known nationally as “The Sneaker Chemist,” I created STEAM Sneakerheadz™ to redefine what science education can look like. Through sneaker-centered learning experiences, wearable sneaker customization labs, interactive chemistry demonstrations, curriculum consulting, and motivational speaking, I help schools, organizations, museums, and corporations create engaging STEAM experiences that students genuinely connect with.

My work has been recognized through partnerships, speaking engagements, and features with organizations including the American Chemical Society, TEDx, and national educational and science platforms. From delivering a TEDx Talk at Morehouse College to leading culturally responsive STEAM programming across the country, I’ve become known for blending science, sneakers, and culture in a way that makes chemistry feel relevant, creative, and empowering.
