Welcome to STEAM Sneakerheadz™!
More than just a business, we are a social enterprise on a mission to make science education more engaging, culturally relevant, and accessible to all communities, particularly those that are underserved and underrepresented.

We believe that STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) is everywhere—especially in the things we use daily. By merging hands-on learning, creative expression, and real-world science, we empower students of all ages to see the chemistry of kicks/sneakers, cosmetics, and the science behind everyday life.

Our STEAM Sneaker Art Workshops are designed to engage, educate, and excite learners as young as six all the way to adults. Led by Ky the Chemist, these workshops bring sneaker science to life in schools, community centers, after-school programs, and corporate events. Every session is packed with hands-on experiments, artistic expression, and real-world applications of STEAM concepts.

Workshops can be adjusted based on group size, location, and needs for participants. Currently, we offer three workshop styles: A 6–7-week series sneaker art workshop, a single comprehensive “mini” lesson, and a weekend 3–4-hour sneaker art workshop, you can find more details below:

🔬 STEAM Sneaker Art Masterclass (6–7 Week Series) – The ultimate deep dive into sneaker science! Students will explore polymers, textiles, foams, hydrophobicity, and more while designing their own sneaker-inspired projects. This structured, multi-session program includes expanded curriculum, hands-on activities, and a final graduation ceremony for up to 25 students. Lessons cover topics like the chemistry of dyes, foams, and hydrophobicity while integrating STEAM career exploration and creative sneaker design. Perfect for schools, organizations, after-school programs, and summer camps looking for an in-depth, immersive STEAM experience.

🎨 Single Comprehensive “Mini” Lesson – A high-energy, fast-paced introduction to sneaker chemistry, covering hydrophobicity or polymers, depending on the age group, along with dyes. Students will get hands-on by creating their own custom sneaker keychains, making complex scientific concepts fun, accessible, and engaging. Ideal for schools, pop-up events, summer camps, and community outreach programs.

Sneakers are my primary focus, but I’ve also hosted workshops that dive deeply into STEAM concepts, showing how chemistry connects to every aspect of our lives. Beyond sneakers, some of the other engaging topics and lessons I’ve taught include the Chemistry of Cosmetics, Natural Medicine, Fashion, Hip-Hop Culture, Goal-Setting Skills, Vision Board Parties, Networking, and so much more. While everything is interconnected, sneakers remain the most popular and exciting gateway for exploring these ideas.
